Our current "children"

Many people have asked us how our current "children" are taking the news of the upcoming addition to our family.  So far, Pepper and Penny have been taking the news well, especially because they played a pivotal role in announcing the good news to our families and some of our friends.  In anticipation of an announcement, we ordered personalized t-shirts for the dogs to wear, as you can see below.

Pepper's shirt was a bit confusing because Pepper is already a "big brother" to Penny.  So, it was funny to see people's reactions to his shirt - you could tell that everyone was thinking, "Oh man, they're dressing their dogs up in personalized clothing now...what next?!"  Pepper was a little upset because his shirt was a bit tight, but we told him that it makes his muscles look bigger :)

Penny's shirt is what really let the cat (dare we use the "c" word in connection with the dogs!?) out of the bag...except for one friend who thought that we were announcing that Penny is going to be a mommy...we won't name names...Missy :)

It was really fun to see everyone's reactions to our announcement.  It was neat to see people go from greeting our friendly little dogs...to trying to read the shirts...to looking at us with confusion...to finally figuring it out and reacting with excitement, tears, hugs, and laughter.  Thankfully, no one assumed that we were getting yet another Westie, but were instead expecting a human baby :)  We're so to meet this little guy or gal in a few months (six months, to be more precise) and introduce him or her to Pepper, Penny, and our family and friends!

For an update, we have our third doctor's appointment this Thursday!  We're really getting excited to find out the baby's gender and we should be scheduling that appointment on Thursday, so stay tuned...
